On Friday 14th July, we have arranged a self-drive visit to Chasleton House and Garden.
Rosy Sutton, the Head Gardener at this National Trust’s beautifully unspoilt Jacobean property, will lead a private tour of the gardens for us lasting about an hour depending on questions etc. starting at 11am before the property opens to the public.
There will be access to the garden to walk round in our own time afterwards, places to have picnics and play croquet before Chasleton opens to the public at 1pm, and access to the house after 1pm if people would like to visit the house (see below).
The garden tour will include the reconstructed Victorian Rose Garden in the ‘Best Garden’, which is being formally opened on July 11th. There will be teas and coffee available in the Brewhouse before Chastleton opens to the public.
The charge will be £8 for NT members and £18.50 for non-members (both include the house visit if so wished), payable at the gate on the day in the usual manner. NT cards will also need to be scanned at the gate.
To register to join us on this self-drive, please contact us at membership@charlburygardensociety.org.uk stating:
- whether you are an NT member or not, and
- whether you would like to visit the house or not.
If you would like to visit the house, the Visitor Welcome manager, Steven Williams will arrange for tickets to be held back for the first house visit at 1pm when Chastleton opens to the public.
The garden visit will be accessible by wheelchair and mobility scooter. Only ground floor house visits are accessible. Guide dogs only.
See the National Trust website for more information on access: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/oxfordshire-buckinghamshire-berkshire/chastleton
As with previous self-drive trips we would like to encourage car sharing where possible, so please also indicate if you would like a lift, or would be willing to give a lift to others. We will endeavour to match those requiring a lift with those who are willing to share.
